Recipes!

So in my attempts to become more domestic, along with knocking things off my 101 list, I've decided to make myself a cookbook. This is where you, my devoted blog readers come in. I need you to send me your best recipes. Main dishes, salads, desserts, drinks, heck, I'm not picky. I would love them all! Just post them as a comment and I will love you forever!

  2. Banana Bars --- to DIE for! seriously.

    1/2 cup butter, softened
    1 1/2 cups white sugar
    2 eggs
    1 cup sour cream
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 cups all-purpose flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 cup mashed ripe bananas
1 (16 ounce) container cream cheese frosting

    DIRECTIONS
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 10x15 inch jellyroll pan.
In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, then stir in the sour cream and vanilla. Combine the flour, baking soda and salt; stir into the batter. Finally, mix in the mashed banana. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes in the preheated oven, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow bars to cool completely before frosting with the cream cheese frosting. (Home made cream cheese frosting is the best.)

  3. Oh... I have soooo many! Here are two that I have memorized.

    Taco Pie

1 lb ground beef - browned
3 soft taco shells (any kind)
    2 T Taco seasoning
    1-2 T of water
    1 large tomatoe - chopped
1 can green chilles (no worries they aren't super spicy)
1/3 jar of nacho cheese sauce (I buy the tostitos (sp?) stuff)

Brown ground beef in frying pan. Once browned, mix in taco seasoning. Then add water slowing to turn the taco seasoning to more of a paste. Let it cook down for a few seconds so it isn't too watery. Add tomatoes and green chilles into the pan. Then add about 75% off the cheese sauce.... mix it all together.

In a pie plate put one of the taco shells. Then layer 1/3 of the beef mixture on top. Repeat. On the top layer drizzel the rest of the cheese sauce (sometimes you need to melt it a bit in the microwave)

Put it all in the oven at 350 for 15-20 mins.

Serve with sour cream on top. Salad and mexican rice if you want as well!

Funeral Potatoes... the good ol' mormon side dish! LOL

I usually half this recipe, as it makes TONS!!! I also use real potatoes and grate them instead of hashbrowns... I just like it better that way. About 10 medium potoatoes equals the full recipe.

32 oz bag of frozen shredded hash browns
2 cans Cream of Chicken Soup
    2 cups Sour Cream
1 1/2 cup grated Cheddar Cheese (I like to use sharp Cheddar Cheese)
1/2 cup melted butter or margarine
    1/2 c. chopped onion
2 cups finely crushed Corn Flakes
2 Tbs butter or margarine melted

Grease 9x13 baking dish and preheat oven to 350
In large bowl combine soups, sour cream, cheese, onions, and the 1/2 cup of melted butter.
Gently fold hash browns into mixture.
    Pour mixture into pan.
Combine crushed corn flakes and the 2 Tbs. of melted butter and sprinkle on top of potato mixture.
    Bake for 45 minutes.

Have fun... if you want more let me know... I LOVE TO COOK!!! I have tons of recipes!

So I feel like if I'm gonna continue to comment I might as well continue to leave recipes... right?
So 1st... I definitely pick and choose the pictures cause sometimes I'm vain and like the interweb to be lulled into a false sense of what I look like. It happens. Second... chop chop should totally hold a place in your heart because it was the moment we were introduced. And third... I am in Boston till Christmas but visitors are always welcome! Enjoy the recipes!
